Dynamic Dining on Royal Caribbean's Quantum Class Ships

One of the biggest objections I find from people taking their first cruise is their thoughts on dining. They don't want to be tied down to a set time, they don't want to pack "formal" wear for the ubiquitous 2 formal nights found on a 7 day cruise. Perhaps they have gone to an all inclusive resort that has multiple restaurants and have wondered why on a ship you have one included in the cruise price.
Well the cruise industry has been slowly moving toward a dining experience that resembles more of how people dine; whether they are at home or on a land based vacation.  Disney was the first by having 3 dining rooms that you rotate through during your cruise. A start, but you are still tied to either early or late sitting fixed dinner times. Then Norwegian Cruise Line shook up the industry by introducing Freestyle Dining, no set times in the main dining room and no formal nights.

Anytime a new ship is being built, little bits of information are handed out to the industry and public to build interest in the new ship. Well Royal Caribbean did that and more when they introduced their Dynamic Dining. Gone will be the what has become a rather mammoth size main dining room on today's current ships with their two sittings. It will be replaced by 5 smaller dining rooms each with a different style of food and décor. You will be able to eat when and where and with whom you like. And the dress code will be mainly Smart Casual. Plus Royal Caribbean has enlisted 3 celebrity chefs to head up a few of their Specialty Dining venues. Jamie's Italian Kitchen will feature British chef/cookbook author/ Jamie Oliver's rustic Italian cooking. Michael's Genuine Pub, is Michael Schwartz's James Beard Award winning farm to table cuisine with his own craft beer. Devin Alexander of The Biggest Loser, will front Devin's Decadence in the Solarium Bistro, with meals under 500 calories.

Update: Quantum of the Seas will be sailing from Cape Liberty NJ from November 2014 till May 2015, when she will be deployed to the Far East. Her sister ship Anthem of the Seas will arrive in New Jersey Fall of 2015 after sailing in Europe over the summer.
